Interesting texture. This ink is much thicker than other Pelikan Edelstein. This bottle was not on my review list for July but since “I think” The Bird’s Ink is made by Pelikan, I took this bottle out for comparison.
Although they are all blacks – Onyx, The Bird’s ink Black, and 4001 black – Onyx is the thickest and the 4001 black is the thinnest. Onyx is with a little bit of yellow tough, 4001 black is like dark dark black gray, and the Bird’s ink Black isn’t that much to remember.
Back to the Onyx. About standard drying time. Very saturated, like Sailor Kiwa Kuro, it didn’t leave any room for shading. Not much water resistant as usual and slightly drier ink flow amount all Pelikan Edelstein Inks. It is also thick enough that didn’t feather or bleed through iPaper UCCU or DoubleA. However, if I want to use black ink, I’d go with Pelika 4001 Fount India.
CP value: 75/100, for collection and good before Fount India released.
